Dears,
This is scene of Gorkha where epicenter of 25.04.2015 the Great Earthquake
after 1934 A D jolted. Severe chill weather poured snow accumulation over
the TLS- temporary living shelters on January 09 2016. Just able to pay
sympathy to keep health of children and elders from deteriorating by
pneumonia! LG SHERPA ( Photo courtesy The Himalayan Times)

以下は、ハクパさんのメイルへの返事です。
Lhakpa Ji,
It's a very impressive picture of the snowy Barpack reminding me of Langtang as
well as many midland villages where people lead severe ways of Himalayan lives.
By the way, "Good Luck and Prosperous Recovery" to you all from Hiroji Fushimi.

1)Maghi Sankranti festival today‏
Sherpa Lhakpa    2016/01/15
Dear PhD Youbraj sir
Nepal itself is complexity and diversity of so many faces of people with
three distinct ecology. Well, as per Gregorian calendar the Sun in southern
hemisphere started to orbit towards northern hemisphere with longer days and
shorter nights hours. Whereas, it is also believed after the Yomari purnima
and Udhauli festival of Newar and Kirant communities it is believed change
of rotation of solar towards northern part of equater.
Today a special day for Tharu community a new year and rest of Nepalese in
lower Himalaya and terrain observing Maghi festival longer days = warmer ?
But sir, the intention of this mail to write you planners of education
sectors... We are Himalaya dwellers and due to acute alpine topography and
ecology we don't have the items to mark Maghi festival in the Himalaya
except frost and potatoes but those are also kept under hibernation to avoid
negative chill winter temperature..Still we believe and share all sorts of
festivals since a member of Nepalese territory.
Some year back I was Science Teacher, had to do experimental but the
curriculum prepared with conceptual of lower Himalaya-valley and tarai
facilities so it was tough to get them and even demonstrate students with
different even completely different society..Therefore, I suggest you
planners need to go for as per local dynamics where it is necessary and
available locally or education good for that society.
During my teaching tenure I could give them SCHOOLING but not EDUCATION. Our
former Director General PhD Lava Dev ji wrote an article and read it,
SCHOOLING and EDUCATION is different which touched four chambers of my
heart.
Have a nice festive days and weekend

Lhakpa Ji,
I have never seen the Maghi festival. However, I would like to see it, since we have the Sagicho festival in this time of year in Japan, a ritual bonfire burning of New Year's decorations for a bumper harvest. It may have similar characteristics with Maghi festival and both are  historical festivals in our common monsoon Asia.
By the way, I am very much interested in your education theory, "SCHOOLING but not EDUCATION". I am going to re-open the lecture of "ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES OF THE NEPAL HIMALAYA" at KU University from March to May this year, that is a lecture of "Open and Participatory Learning" and I am planning to make field surveys with students in the Langtang valley where many villages have been suffered from the huge avalanches at the time of 2015 Nepal earthquake.

3)Sherpa Lhakpa   2016/01/15
Dear Fushimi san
The government even declared a nation wide official holiday. As of mythology, it is mid winter and people need glucose , carbohydrate and protein items so Newar Community use to take Sugar based items called CHAKU and especially hill people take Natural products as varities of Yam or yama imo or jinnenjyo etc with believe to exhaust colds inside one’s body. During the mean day time the Tharu community residing in Kathmandu are performing their menu as food festival and culture shows. Whereas the Magar community are also doing similar way but as of today’s newspaper article, this community observe this Maghi festival to remember their ancestors..which is Obon in Japan and Gai jatra of Newari?
